How To Make it?
The best kind of yogurt ice cream is the kind you make yourself!
Frozen yogurt is a deliciously refreshing dessert that’s perfect for a hot summer day, or just about any day we feel like treating ourselves to something cold and tasty that may even be semi-good for us.
And sure, we could just go out and buy some ready-made fro-yo from the store, but that’s somehow not really the same. No, no. We are adults, we love this dessert and we’re going to make it all by ourselves! But… how? Well, just follow this simple frozen yogurt recipe and you can make all of the ice cream you can handle!
Step Number 1: Getting What We Need
The first thing I need to mention is that this recipe does require an ice-cream maker. If you already have one, perfect! If you don’t, but you love ice cream, you may want to consider getting one at some point.
I don’t know how everyone else likes to do it, but before I get to cooking something, the first thing I do is unpack all of the ingredients and set them up on my cooking table so I have easy access to everything when it’s time to get started.
So here’s what you’ll need:
- 3 cups whole-milk, plain yogurt
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup sugar or honey or a sweetener of your choice
And that’s about it Now, it’s important to keep in mind that there are several ways in which you could make frozen yogurt, but this recipe keeps things simple, which means its ideal for anyone who’s trying this for the first time. Try it out, see how it works, and then you can find or experiment with all of the different ingredient varieties the internet (or your imagination) has to offer.
Step Number 2: Preparing In Advance…
The first thing you’ll want to do is get your ice-cream maker ready. For that, freeze its bowl about a day in advance.
Step Number 3: Time to get mixing!
For this step, simply take all of the ingredients in step one, put them in a bowl and mix together for about 1-2 minutes, until they look uniformly mixed.
Step Number 4: Bring Everything To Fridge Temperature
This step may not be necessary if your mixture hasn’t warmed. If it has though, or you’ve kept it out of fridge for too long, stick it back in until the temperature returns to 0.
Step Number 5: Churn The Mixture
It’s time to pour the yogurt, base in to the ice-cream machine. After that, churn until thickened-to the texture of a think milk shake (about 20 minutes)
Step Number 6: Freeze Until Solid
Now that our work is done, we just need to take the product of our labor, stick it in the freezer and let the cold temperature do the rest. It should stay in the freezer for at least 6 hours, but it would be ideal to leave it in over night.
Step Number 7: Finishing touches
Once frozen, you can take it out of the freezer and let the yogurt soften up a bit before serving (about 20-30 minutes). After that, consider adding a bit of syrup on top and enjoy your dessert!
